Among the academic awards Gabriella has received, most for all four years at Woodside: Academic Excellence Awards, Distinguished Scholar, and Scholar Athlete. Gabriella took first place at BUILD Business Plan competition at Stanford University, and she received the George Eastman Young Leaders Award “in recognition of outstanding academic achievement and leadership.” She also attended the 2008 and 2009 Congressional Student Leadership Conference. Gabriella started her own business selling iPod cases, iWear, with four other students.
She says in her essay, “I seek to make a difference in the world in both micro and macro ways. In micro ways, I see myself being empathetic and helping make a difference in people’s lives, one person at a time. On a larger scale, I hope to build understanding between countries and cultures so that they can better address their issues of the day. Attending a distinguished university is the foundation from which I will begin to meet my end. I am certain that I will be successful in both my academic and longer-term goals because of who I am, the challenges I have overcome, and what I have accomplished thus far.”
