"Before attending high school, the whole college idea hadn’t really hit me. Now as a senior, only a couple months away from the whole college experience, I am not only thrilled, but proud of myself. Even though my parents didn’t go to college, they always told me that a broader education would take me further in life. Now that I have succeeded in high school, I see college as a vital necessity. I know that I have what it takes to do anything I set my mind to and I am willing to go as far as it takes to accomplish my dreams.”
Keyla combines a near-perfect GPA record with volunteering and dedication to dance and choreography. She was one of the main founders of the Summit Dance team and taught new members choreographies and organized the dance class. She also played defense and forward on Summit's Varsity Girls Soccer Team. After college and some work experience in the business field, she wants to start her own business possibly in the fashion or dance industry.
She has been honored by selection to Sequoia Students Honor Roll, Sequoia student of the day, Summit's Spanish 4 student of the year, and Summit's junior student of the month for Physics. Keyla has volunteered in her community at a homeless shelter and tutored a younger student.
