“The best gift in life is the ability to make a mistake, get back up, and try again. I might not have known what I was capable of if I hadn’t been humbled by failure. Of my nine brothers and sisters, I soon will become the first to attend a four-year college. When my siblings were in high school, it was hard for them to stay motivated because they flocked into a herd of students that cared little about education. Writing motivates me to stay positive and improve the trail my siblings have left for me to follow.”
Roseanna received many awards for Journalism excellence – news and opinion articles, editorials, reviews and photos – from the Northern California Press, the San Francisco Press Club, and local publications. She helped publish six Eastside Panther Newspapers the year the newspaper took 1st place in the Nation. All this while maintaining a fine academic record and playing basketball as a starter, named “Most Committed and Best Jumper in the League.” After she gets her degree, Roseanna is interested in becoming a psychologist and a journalist writer after college.
Roseanna took Second place for Best Photo with the San Francisco Peninsula Press Club and second place with the Journalism Education Association of Northern California. The San Jose Mercury Newspaper gave her the "Making a Difference Award" for writing articles about people who are bystanders in their society, and about a successful young activist. Serving a Teen Environmental Action Mentorship, Roseanna led recycling and environmental awareness workshops and created surveys. She also served with the Hearts of Association, East Palo Alto.
