“After my experience working and helping children in various internship settings, it only made sense for me to center my career on children and their healthy growth. I plan to become a child psychiatrist and open my own practice. To me, having a college degree means that I have knowingly put myself to the test mentally and succeeded. Because of what I went through, I know I can and will get through whatever life throws at me.”

In addition to academic success at City Arts and Technology, Ilisha received a Peer Leadership Award there. In the volunteer area, she has been given numerous accolades, including a Certificate of Achievement for working in the Arthur Coleman Medical Center as an Intern and assistant with their programs and a Huckleberry Youth Programs Certificate of Achievement, recognition after a year of training and work in the Cole St Clinic off Haight. Ilisha says of her post-college career aspirations, "One of my largest goals at the moment is to own my own practice as a child psychiatrist."

Ilisha volunteered over 60 hours to City Youth Now, a non-profit organization that provides funds, services and programs to San Francisco's neediest children. She assembled emergency essential packs for youth, handled administrative tasks, wrapped gifts, prepared direct mailings, and helped with fundraising events.
