“I will be the first person in my family to graduate from high school and go to college. I am the oldest in my family and I want to be a role model for my younger siblings. I want them to have the desire to attend college as well. My career goal is to become a pediatrician. As a doctor, I would like to help as many young people as possible and stay in the community of East Palo Alto because there are not enough doctors to help all of the children in the city. Ultimately, I want to serve the members of my community that do not have access to health care.”
The achievement that Daisy is most proud of is getting accepted to seven of the nine colleges where she applied, and this is important to her because she will be the first person in her family to graduate from high school and pursue a college degree. She feels that her hard work in the last four years is finally paying off. Daisy's educational objective is to prepare for a career in the medical profession.
Daisy takes social responsibility seriously, and examples include being the captain of the girls varsity soccer team for three years in a row, encouraging her peers during group work, being chosen as student of the month for supporting others in her school, and completing an internship at the San Mateo Willow Clinic where she volunteered her time four hours a week.
