Ismael has been on the Honor Roll at San Leandro HS from freshman-senior year, and enrolled in the SLHS Academy for Business and Finance for 3 years, serving as President while a senior. He organized and raised money for student activities in that role. He took 3rd Place in a Rotary Speech Contest in his sophmore year, and was in the top 8 for the DECA California State Competition as a junior. Ismael says, "The careers that I'm interested in are in Business Administration. Mostly, administrating corporations or small businesses, and helping them succeed."

Roseanna received many awards for Journalism excellence – news and opinion articles, editorials, reviews and photos – from the Northern California Press, the San Francisco Press Club, and local publications. She helped publish six Eastside Panther Newspapers the year the newspaper took 1st place in the Nation. All this while maintaining a fine academic record and playing basketball as a starter, named “Most Committed and Best Jumper in the League.” After she gets her degree, Roseanna is interested in becoming a psychologist and a journalist writer after college.

Luis is a Cross Country and Track and Field star - captain of one of his teams - and was asked to represent the United States in two 5k Races in Hawaii and in Australia. He has accomplished this while maintaining his academic record and finding time to volunteer at a nursing home. After college, Luis wants to create a non profit organization in his community, or go into law enforcement or civil rights work.

Gabriella’s motivation is demonstrated by her 4.0 GPA, her extracurricular activities in sports, dance, community service, and success in the BUILD program. The CSF Scholar volunteered with the Octagon community service Club and created the Star of David Club at Woodside High School. Gabriella devotes much of her free time to helping others and leading club meetings, and taking action to better her community. She plans to pursue studies in International Relations at UC San Diego.

Ivan has been a mover and shaker at Lionel Wilson: a fine student and contributor. He volunteered as Girls JV/Varsity soccer coach for a year to save the program from being cut, and was a key motivator on their high school varsity soccer team. Co-founding the school's engineering club, he and the group built a suspension bridge from found objects. Ivan created a plan that allowed Lionel’s academic schedule to dovetail with college courses he and peers wanted to take. After college, Ivan knows that he wants to do something within the scientific field, especially in research.

Ilisha says of her post-college career aspirations, "One of my largest goals at the moment is to own my own practice as a child psychiatrist."

She tutored young students and was able to connect with them in a way an adult could not. After college, Elizabeth would like to work in the field of event planning, and she already has plenty of experience.

I now know that I should be in a work study program at the university.” Since she is interested in mathematics and has a passion for music Leslie wants to combine the two fields and be a teacher after college.

She is interested in using her degree to work in marketing to use advertising creatively. Taniko wants to be involved with graphic designers and brand communications. She is particularly interested in Japan or China, not only due to her cultural background, but because they have a large market for new products to be sold and advertised.

One of Fernando's defining characteristics is a fierce determination to succeed. Fernando has also exhibited an extraordinary gift for and interest in the sciences. As he says, "my goal is to someday be a biotechnologist that studies stem cells."
